I've only had one issue where the battery may or may not have been dodgy,it was replaced anyway.

A few thing's could have been done better design wise[like the screen bezel],but overall it is excellent.

I've had mine pretty much the longest on this board and haven't had any stability problem's with it......it's been a real soldier....no regret's at all.

I am quite pleased with the performance so far.
What bothers me though is the QC of DELL.
Day 1 the screen and GFX unit needed replacement...
Now all is OK and peformance is as expected

Btw I have to say that DELL's aftersale service was excellent! :)

another M2400 owner here. My only complaint is there being no driver for the touchpad in Linux until recently, but that's not Dell's fault.

I own a M4400 for about two weeks now and have no complaints other the the audio stutters sometimes. I feel that its a solid mobile workstation with some small issues that will most likely be worked out in time. Compared to similar competitors products such as the Lenovo W series I feel I made the right choice.

All new computers are bound to have issues. I don't think there are many problems as majority of the people who buy the laptop do no experience any significant/noticeable issues. Overall, I think the new Precisions have delivered most of the things they were expected to. The looks are good, build quality is good, performance is good, battery life is good.

Agreed...but most of the problems you hear about are software sourced problems, not M4400 hardware problems which many people attribute around here. I had some audio stutter, but darned if a vista update came through and it disappeared immediately....it's all about BIOS, drivers and vista. Cooling is fine and the m4400 doesn't use cheap/off brand components. I'm sure DELL will get the BIOS right eventually :D As for gaming, drivers, drivers, drivers...

@Weegie: Ditto except I got mine in Dec.

I agree that many of the problems are software problems, but thats part of the point, should dell not be choosiing hardware vendors that provide better drivers ?

Also, this bios issue; does it not indicate that dell is not paying attention to software ? Does providing faulty BIOS software not negatively impact user experience, and hence lower Dell's image ?

My M6400 is very stable...but Dell have been poor in its support. The main thing that I want is a user manual.

Fr'instance, the spec says "8 in 1 card reader" - so what type of cards does it read? As far as I can see, it only supports SD cards...

In fact, I'll raise a new thread about that..

'borg....yep....I've had a pleasant experience though, so can't complain.

DELL seems to be unaware of many problems posted here....maybe more people should raise heck with tech support over some of these problems. I will if I encounter something significant and make sure it gets into their database.
