I am planning to buy the Dell Precision M4800. I would like some advice on which wireless card would be a good option and why? I tried a google search on Dell wireless 1550 vs intel centrino but i could not get any comparison.

I also read somewhere in the forum that there were some driver issues with the Dell 1550.

I really got no information on the difference between Dell wireless 1550 or Intel AC 7260 though there is the intel page with AC 7260 specifications.

I think i am going to go with the Intel AC 7260 for my Precision M4800 but just based on the fact that my present Lenovo system has Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 and i have had no issues with it.

To my knowledge the Intel 7260 AC has Bluetooth, unlike the Centrino Ultimate 6300... I'd always go for Intel instead of Dell.

I think the only concern with having a DELL WiFi adapter vs. the Intel 7260 would be if you wanted to use the new Intel WiDi feature (Wireless display)

WiDi is an "Intel" based feature available on 3rd and 4th gen processors that uses the chipsets and WiFi adapter to mirror your display on a TV/Monitor/Projection using an HDMI adapter.

While Intel WiDi might be compatible with other WiFi adapters like the DELL 1550, you are almost certainly better off using a WiDi compatible Intel WiFi Adapter if you plan on relying on the WiDi feature for business or personal use.

The Dell 1601 (I think) does wifi, wigig, and BT - wigig basically lets you do the same thing as wi-Di.

    That is true.

I'd say if you have the DELL 1550 - don't worry about upgrading to :

DELL 1601 unless you want to use WiGig (somehow? it's hardly supported yet :/)
INTEL 7260 or 6300 unless you want to use WiDi (with a WiDi HDMI adapter)

NOTE : there appears to be at least 4 versions of the INTEL 7260

    "N"
    "N" w/Bluetooth
    "AC"
    "AC w/Bluetooth"

AC is the newer WiFi protocol, but it'd probably be a rare situation that you'd notice a speed difference over N, and N drivers might be more mature/stable?

I picked up a wigig dock on eBay for really cheap ($30) - I'm not using it for anything but the "Ethernet" connection at the moment, but it's definitely nice and fast, compared to using the wifi router two floors below me.

It would be nice to have an AC card, but this is also pretty nice, granted it only works in one room.
