Dell Windows XP Reformat Problems

Dell Vostro 1400 reinstalled windows XP due to virus problems. Did not come with driver disk, so I had to download those from dells website. Everything working great after I finished, except the wireless card. Dell Mini 1395, now says driver not installed. But it is, I think. Any advice? At this point I am thinking about starting over.

Second question, windows will not update. Get an error when I try and run it. This is XP SP2. Should I give up and install SP3 or maybe vista, W7, etc. I'm thinking SP2 will never update.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
