    Hi guys!

I'm using a Dell Latitude E6400 and I'm running the Wave Systems Embassy Security Software for my fingerprint reader. The problem is that I would like to change the logon (welcome) picture in vista. I have now the Dell Wave default picture, which really sucks! Is there an option to change it, maybe through the registry?

    Thanks in advance!

i think he was referring to the user avatar, not the background.

i dont think there is any way to change it, unless you uninstall the security suite

The WAVE Embassy login image is actually rather easy to modify. Took me about 20 minutes to find which file to modify.

1)Grab a resource editor, the free Resource Hacker works for 32-bit executables, I had to get Restorator 2007 (30day trial works fine) for 64-bit.

2)Hunt down OEM_Resources.dll and copy it out of \Windows\System32 -- make a backup copy as well!

3)Modify the 103 resource with a 128x128 32bit bitmap of your choice (procedure may differ depending on app*) :

4)Save out OEM_Resources.dll and overwrite the one in \Windows\System32

    5) Reboot, and you should have yourself a new login thumbnail for WAVE Embassy!

*-in Restorator 2007, I deleted the existing 103 bitmap resource and added a new blank 103 resource. Once the blank 103 resource was created, I copied my bitmap from mspaint and pasted it in. Resource Hacker is much more straightforward.

Thanks for the hint! I was using the reshacker and it worked fine! I have just replaced the dell bitmap with a custom one!
