    Hi,

I have had a dell vostro 1700 for 1 year now, and it is a decent enough laptop to do what I want to do on it.

    OTHER THEN

the fact i brought a nice 32" LCD tv, which WORKED for months with the Laptop....

Now it suddenly does not work. Nothing.. i mean NOTHING is seen on the LCD tv.

Now i thought hmm, it may be the tv so i got another laptop connected and what do you know? it worked...

then i thought hmm, it might be the laptop... i connected the dell vostro 1700 to another LCD tv and it worked...

It is F*cking frustrating... my laptop is out of warranty... but nothing explains why this would happen... After browsing on the net, I noticed that i wasnt the only person with this problem...

Is there ANYWAY to fix it?

If all else fails I can always burn down the DELL HQ... but the fact that there is NO REASON for the VGA not to work is the worst thing... if I broke it then i could live with it..

Ive tried to reboot, from vista to xp to vista ultimate to ubuntu... and it doesnt work on any.. Ive tried loads of drivers inc forceware drivers... and it doesnt work.

the laptop detects that a 'tv' has been plugged in but it just does not want to send the signal to my tv. It will do it with other TVs though... But like i said... it worked for months before... and i have taken out all things that could be wrong... ie checked tv with different laptop, or checked laptop with different tv...

its annoying me... the warranty has ran out, but I think this is ridiculous.. If dell knew that this would happen or has happened they should address it.

    thanks for any help!
