I am helping a friend fix his Vostro 1000 and the thing won't connect to the internet. I personally have a Sony but I agreed to help him out and I can't connect to the internet for ANYTHING. No wireless or wired. I have all of the network settings correct and the network connections are enabled....nothing is set to specific proxy settings or anything like that....and the computer reads as connected to the network and internet in Vista....but web browsers will not connect at all. Yahoo messenger even connects but I can't get IE or Firefox to surf the web. Is there something I'm missing?

Did you make sure that Port 80 wasn't blocked? Could be a simple firewall setting that needs checking....
