My 1500 works fine, no problems with media buttons. Just used the installation disk that came with the lappie.

You used the installation disk that came with the lappie to install Windows 7??
I doubt it - you'd have to download the pre-release copy from Microsoft.

I doubt you'll have any problems installing W7 on any of the Vostro's.

I installed the Windows 7 RC (x86) without any issues on my new Vostro 1320; whatever drivers were needed, I either used the Vista drivers off of the Dell website or the reference drivers off of the manufacturer's website.

    No problems so far...

Same here on a Vostro 1400. The machine is a little snappier than with Vista 32 ultimate and also runs much cooler.

I've purchased the Windows 7 upgrade for my Vostro 1700 (Vista Home Premium). When I conduct the upgrade, what is likely to happen to the Recovery (D:/) drive that came installed with the computer, and what will likely happen to the Dell Media Direct functionality? My computer runs so wonderfully right now that I don't want to mess with these if I don't have to, and hope I have the option of simply installing the new OS on the current C:/ drive (where Vista Home Premium resides), and retain Media Direct, etc.

Thanks for any help. First time EVER participating in ANY forum...
