Dell Vostro 1700 Sound issues PLEASE HELP

    I have a relativly new DELL vostro 1700 and for some strange reason the headphones and mic jacks have stopped working. when i insert the jacks into the ports the sound stops coming out of the speakers but no sound comes through the headphones the mic does the same works with the jack out side but when inserted nothing.

    I am 100% sure that the headset works fine I even tried others and the results were the same. Has anyone else ever encountered any issue Like this?

    The ports could be faulty, contect dell support.
