Dell Vostro 1700 e-sata upgrade

Hi, I own a Dell Vostro 1700. I'd like to upgrade it with an e-sata express card to use an additional external sata hdd. Is it possible? If so, can somebody suggest me a good model of e-sata express card?

When I wanted eSATA I just bought the cheapest adaptor I could find. If my memory is correct, it had a Silicon Image chip inside. Prabably the same as another adaptor at twice the price.

Good to know that the e-sata works on dell portables, the Dell Italy use to say it doesn't, funny, isn't it?

 

My previous comment refers to a non-Dell notebook. However, I cannot think of a reason why an Express Card eSATA adaptor would not work with a Dell notebook that has an Express Card slot.

Dell support might have meant that eSATA is not included on the Vostro 1700. it is built-in to some of the new notebooks such as my E6400.

Many thanks, indeed my dell notebook has an express card slot but really the Dell customer support tried to persuade me that it wouldn't be possible to install an esata adaptor.
They also told me once that i couldn't install a secondary internal hdd, when there's two hdd slots on the back of the notebook.
Why a so irritating customer care politic, i cannot say. They should say "we produce good computers, you can do it."
