    Dell Vostro 1500
Operating System:Windows Vista Home prem 32-bit
Graphics card : 8600 gt Nvidia

    Description of problem.
When connecting a s-video using svideo adater from laptop to TV picture appears for about 2 seconds then flickers and black screens.
Have tried another laptop Acer with same cable and its able to connect to the tv.I have tried almost all settings on the Dell laptop/Nvidia settings as i got an Nvidia 8600gt graphics card.

There is definately no issues with the svideo cable as it works with other laptop.

    I need help pls.

    Cheers
    Gavin

Have you tried your Fn+F keys to force it?

    Hi there
yes i have tried that and it doesnt work.
It displays for like 2 secs and then goes to black screen.

Just another thing to Note :
    I tried a 4 pin and 7 pin s-video adaptor with 2 different outcomes!!!

4- pin : displays my desktop on CRT tv for like 2 secs and then goes to black screen

7-Pin : Displays snowy screen with no picture at all with some interference. But no desktop image at all on crt tv

    Hope this helps
    Thanx in advance
    Cheers

7-pin to component works flawlessly for me, try changing your drivers.

It is giving you a flash of the screen due to the res is not supported by the SDTV, try changing the resolution for the TV (usually label as #2) to either 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 (my SDTV support up to this resolution, I am not sure if other TV are capable or not). The above trick is how I solve the exact same problem you are encountering.
