    So what software does dell install that is totally useless and can be removed.

    Anything by Google and, depending on your configuration, many parts of Dell ControlPoint.

    There is also Roxio CD/DVD burning (not a trial, it's full featured) and Cyberlink PowerDVD, not that much really.

    I'd definitely recommend getting rid of the network connections portion of ControlPoint. I've had nothing but problems with it on the E6400 I bought for someone at work at the E4200 I've got at home.

    Eh, yeah, probably true, but I believe that without ControlPoint you don't get the on-screen notifications for brightness & volume, and I rather like those.
