    2month ago.

    i have purchased m7710 on dell_outlet.

when i ordered VGA was m3000m.

i had to go abroad for a month. so i couldnt get it by my self.

anyway. i checked system 2weeks ago. and i realized that k5100m installed on my laptop ( n15e-q5 on original config as well)

    When i see graphics
    there are 2 of
    1. intel hd 530
    2. microsoft basic display adapter.

when i tried to install VGA driver(from dell, ndiva i think i tried every driver)it says "no compatible graphic hardware"

So i thought kepler VGA (k5100m) is not compatible with skylake laptop(m7710)
then i send email dell, about this situation.

and dell agent said they are compatible....... with couple of link for dell k5100m
But all they are drivers i already have tried.

of course i tried to change original configuration by phone..... i talked with agent more than 2 hours.
But they just send me other department.... again and again......

I'm surprised they did this, K5100M is not offered for sale with the Precision 7710.
That said, a number of people have tried unsupported MXM cards in various Precision models and it usually works. However, you often have to modify the NVIDIA driver's INF file to get it to recognize the device. I'm not familiar with the procedure specifically, but if you look into that you might be able to get it working.

Modifying the driver INF file will cause the driver to show as not digitally signed, so you might have to jump through some hoops to get it to load, as modern Windows will only load signed drivers by default.

That said, if you ordered it with a M3000M and they shipped you something different, I'd say you have a right to complain, though I'm not sure how easy it is to get them to swap out parts on an Outlet system...

Dell outlet support is same as support provided if purchasing from regular dell store. I've had some outlet laptops repaired by Dell NBD On-Site. I think the On-Site NBD repair might have been an option I paid extra for. but even without on-site NBD Dell should remedy it by allowing user to mail it back for repairs or replace the entire laptop.

weird that a k5100m was found in an outlet 7710. Prior owner must have tried a GPU swap, but why would they not swap it back out before sending laptop back to Dell. weird
