Dell Precision M6800 custom BIOS

Hello,
I have a Precision M6800 and was wondering if a custom BIOS exists that will allow an Nvidia Quadro M5000M which is a Maxwell based GPU? Is it possible to get this card working?

It will work fine with the standard BIOS. It has already been tried and tested.

 

Thanks for your quick reply, I just installed an M5000M p/n N16E-Q5-A1 and the Dell BIOS does not recognize that the card is installed so since it is supposed to work I guess that the card I purchased is not working.

 

Don't worry if the BIOS doesn't recognise the card. It will still work. You just need to install the correct video drivers in the OS.

The only exception, in my case for the my earlier K4100M card, is when your M5000M is from a HP system. If it is indeed from a HP system, you might have to get a copy of the vBIOS from a Dell or Clevo system and flash the vBIOS into your card.

I learned it the hard way with my previous gfx card, the K4100M, as I didn't know it came from a HP system and the seller have no clue. It wouldn't work even though the driver installs correctly and the OS will ID it correctly. However, once I tried to use it the system will crash.

Seems like vBIOS on HP cards are on the main system BIOS and the one on the card gfx card is not the full thing.
