    The M6700 is a beast, dual "on board" screen is possible, on one side there is the standard 1080p LVDS screen running on the iGPU, on the other a 4k eDP screen running on the quadro P4000, brightness work on both screen at the same time, it's a beast.

    I will also try soon the vbios modding of my P4000 :D (just need to experiment everything I found for pascal vbios modding)

    So... can anybody give me an opinion about upgrading the k4100m? As far i understood the GTX 970M is the best upgrade for this one but still kind of expensive get one for my budget... 250 and more and there are two versions the 6GB and the 3GB, browsing here and there i found an GTX 965M 4GB version and mxm 3.0b, and even on ebay there is one m6700 listed with that GPU, doing some search seems that the GTX 970 is around 40% percent better but in gaming the difference is bewteen 5-15 fps depending on what games and it consumes 70w compared to the 75w 970m and of course is far better than the k5000m.

    Should i get the GTX 965M considering my budget?

    And there is anyway to use Optimus on any of these newer cards? for now if i enable Optimus on the BIOS it just use the integrated HD 4000 instead of switchable graphics, and of course if i disable Optimus it will always run on the K4100m but i am considering using the laptop at college and with that wattage of 100w battery will only last around 1 hour or so, that's also another reason i am considering getting the GTX 965M to reduce some wattage too

    Only you can decide the best GPU for your budget. You can go up to 980M.
    You can use Optimus with any NVIDIA card. If Optimus is not working and you are stuck with the Intel GPU doing all rendering, then your INF mod is wrong. When selecting which device to change in the INF file to match your GPU's device ID, you must pick one that supports Optimus. (If you follow the "section" listed to its definition in the INF file you should see "NvSupportMSHybrid = 1".)

    No I just installed the drivers on normal way no mod or anything, also i notice than laptop even on the integrated does not wake up from sleep, I am wondering why it’s happening because for weird it sounds the m6700 board I got is stuck at windows 10 home, as far I know the Precision line uses Professional instead of home versions of OS. Don’t know if motherboard is broken on some way.

    And how do I mod the inf in order to activate Optimus?

    I would pick that 965m, because 980m still expensive almost 400 dollars and has a lot of wattage, and it’s almost on pair with the amd alternatives, I would rather pick up a rx 580 8gb on my desktop that is way cheaper than the 980m, and for casual and mid gaming outside home the 965m should be good.

    Windows 10 Home should work fine. The only difference between Home and Pro is the feature set.

    Please post your card's current hardware ID as reported by Device Manager and I can send a suggestion for modding the INF.

    Can't say about sleep. I haven't had any issues with sleep in a system with upgraded GPU.

    For modifying the INF file, open nvdmwi.inf (from extracted NVIDIA driver .exe package) and perform these replacements (on all occurrences).
    VEN_10DE&DEV_11B7&SUBSYS_05CD1028 => VEN_10DE&DEV_11B7&SUBSYS_053F1028
    VEN_10DE&DEV_11B7&SUBSYS_15CD1028 => VEN_10DE&DEV_11B7&SUBSYS_153F1028

    (This is taking the K4100M entry for the M6800 and changing it to how the card appears in the M6700. Note that the subsystem ID changes depending on whether Optimus is enabled or not. 053F = Optimus disabled, 153F = Optimus enabled.)

    Then run setup.exe and install the driver. Note, the driver signature will be broken. You will have to boot Windows with "disable driver signature enforcement" enabled, or enable "test mode", for the driver to be installed. (After the driver is installed you do not need these options set, it is only needed for the install.) Or, you can sign the driver yourself if you are so motivated.

    So I guess my motherboard is broken in some way because I reinstalled windows 10 twice and with integrated or the external gpu none comes back from sleep. The funny part for me from Professional is Remote Desktop, lol.

    Another question i have seen the 780m cheaper than most 970m and 980m would it be wise price performance for 70 dollars less than most of the 8xx and 9xx? As far I understand the 8xx series are very bad for heating issues but nvidia has dropped support for Kepler platform and soon maxwell.

    GeForce 780M is the same as Quadro K5100M, so only a modest step up from what you already have.

    I am having a hard time thinking what should i get, i see a 970m on 210 but is from Clevo and other one on 240 but from alienware and is 75w or 81w? and then a 980m in 260, and 980m is 122w or 100w? And then 6gb vs 8gb... But also seems 980m requires some mod because seems taller than 970m
