Yeah, the HDD is running hot and that is way over what I get on the SSD I have in the secondary bay.

Also, Krane, one of these days, I'll have to figure out how you can make so many double posts. Not that I mind really. ;)

Anyone have a drive hooked up to the eSata working with Win 8. I tried both the dock and just the computer. It is seen in the Bios when hitting F2. But in WIn 8, intel storage manager says device on unkown port and the drive is not listed in Device Manager.

I did a google search and found a couple posts of other computers with the same thing, but not the M6700.

    thanks,

    Mike

I haven't had any luck with eSATA and Windows 8 now that I tried it, but I am not on the latest IRST version. It did happen in the past that some IRST drivers broke eSATA for me.

I think 11.7 is out on Intel' site, have you tried those if they are indeed available?

I looked on Intel's site and see 11.7, but it says it is for the desktop boards so I did not try it. I could not find one that says notebook.

    thanks

    I'll check the warranty then.

LOL, multitasking? In any event, I regularly log into a half dozen other sites when I'm doing non intensive computer work. This is the only one of those that doesn't allow users the option to delete.

Don't worry about it, I don't mind deleting double posts when I see them.

I'm curious... what brand RAM is Dell selling in 2x8GB 1866Mhz configurations?

I don't think 1866Mhz RAM is worth the money in real day-to-day work. With that said, I'm running it. If on a budget, I recommend 1600Mhz or 1333Mhz.

My slice battery has a little bit of play in it too. It's expected. I wouldn't want it to be extremely tight.

Your attachment didn't work. Can you repost it?

11.7 works fine on the M6700. I'm not running Windows 8 so I can't check the eSATA issue but this is something Dell could easily replicate and get fixed by Intel so please open a case with Dell Support.

Hmm, it was working before, but you're right, it's not working now. Anyways since Krane isn't online right now here's the summary, CrystalDiskInfo (shizuku edition, not that that part matters :p) was showing a drive temperature of 61 Celsius, the rest of the S.M.A.R.T. data seemed to be in the green though. I remember the 61C since you don't see that often, but the rest not so much aside from the fact that it looked ok.
