As soon as i got my Precision M4800, the very next day i did a clean installation of Windows 7 (x64).

I got all the main drivers from Dell site but i am not able to find which utility provides the on screen display for volume and screen brightness, unless it is part of some other non-intuitively named application.

A search only directed me to Dell ControlPoint for M6700 but i do not find this as an option for M4800.

Can someone please let me know what i need here?

It's probably part of the Dell Feature Enhancement Package (FEP).

I think this is not available on M4800/M6800. I know the power management tools that used to be in DFEP were moved into a separate package ("Dell Power Manager" or something). Not sure about the brightness/volume indicators, Windows 8 includes them out-of-the-box.

There is no feature enhancement pack available for download under the software/driver listing for M4800. I haven't tried the Dell power manager since i don't really need more software to manage the power but i doubt that would have OSD utility.

Looks like i have to manage without it....or at least until i upgrade to Windows 8...which i don't plan to do for a while.
