That's cool n' all but how the heck does that relate to upgrading the M4800?

    DDR5 ram, big whoop. I have 4x8GB = 32GB of DDR3 ram running at 1600MHz.

Is that the fastest ram out there? No. Do other systems have larger amounts of ram? Of course.

But ".....DDR5 will completely destroy this M4800 series in 2018."? Smh, not by a long shot.

New ram is cool n' all but not a game changer. Unless it is backward compatible with DDR4 slots I don't really care.

If it IS backward compatible with DDR4 AND you can store an OS on it THEN we are talking because THAT WOULD BE SOME SERIOUS boost to system responsiveness. (Being that DDR4 is volatile and the article said that DDR5 would be non-volatile.)

I meant, if newer workstation laptops start to use DDR5 RAM slot, I think M4800 will be too outdated.

DDR5 is fast enough in quadro graphic cards to prove they can make sense 5 years after manufacture year.

DDR5 is coming during the next year... which isn't too far from now.
    DDR5 ram & DDR5 graphics would be a good combo for 3D design ....

For those pushing the envelope maybe. Frankly, current tech is more than adequate for most CAD. This will be more useful for VR applications in my opinion. New tech coming out doesn't make old tech obsolete if the software only changes very incrementally.

    That depends on your project.

K3000M still takes a long time to render intense After Effect projects. For some 3D animations, it takes 30min+ to render a video file... and it can only deal with 3D animation videos shorter than 12 seconds unless you want to challenge on wasting time.
If CPU, RAM improvements can fix that, I want to give it a try in 2018...that's maybe 8 months from now.
