Are there any advantages to the E6530 apart from the lighter weight and longer battery life?

    I recently bought myself a loaded M4700 for $1400 with I7 3540qm, 256gb ssd, K2000m graphics, and 1080p screen.
    I was also considering a $1150 E6530 with I7 3540QM, 750gb hdd, NVS graphics, and 1080p screen.
I thought that for $250 extra I paid, I get an ssd and better graphics which I thought was a pretty good deal.

In general, there was very little pricing difference between the Latitude E6530 and the Precision M4700.

My usage includes basic university work, powerpoint and word, web surfing, and basic gaming, which the Latitude would have sufficed as well, so I probably did not NEED the Precision. Having said that, I did like the all metal casing on the Precision and I also read that the Precision lines have higher build quality than the Latitudes, which is very important to me.

So my question is, are there any areas that the E6530 is superior to the Precision M4700? Have I made the right decision?
    - Longevity?
    - Cooling?
    - Battery life differences?

For gaming another laptop I saw would have been better. The Latitude E6540 (i7-4800MQ/HD 8790M/1080P , 8GB , etc) was $1100 after a coupon.
Keep an eye out for Dell Outlet New products and coupons.

I'm kind of surprised you bought a Quadro for gaming. Quadros are optimized for OpenGL applications I think but most games use DirectX so you will be losing some performance.

Either way the old Precisions are still nice laptops. You should still be happy with it.

    you made a proper choice:thumbsup:

    - Longevity? no: m4700 have a better GPU
    - Cooling? no: 2 fans in m 4700 vs 1 in latitude
    - Battery life differences? thera i can be wrong, but with light usage, laptop will use intel gpu instead of quadro (optimus technology) so i thiink difference will not be that much.

To be fair, gaming is still not my priority either, and non of my games I play are that demanding.
    - Starcraft 1 (Yes, that game from 1998)
    - Midtown Madness 1/2
    - Euro Truck Simulator 2

As long as the Quadro K2000m games better than NVS, it is fine by me.
Or even if the game does not work, it is okay; then I will be forced to do work :D

Even if I did not need the Quadro graphics, I wanted the SSD on the Precision build.

I just do not understand Dell's pricing policy really, the Latitude and the Precision lines are way too close in pricing. If I replaced the HDD to an SDD on my $1150 latitude build after, the price gap would practically be negligible compared to the $1400 Precision with SSD and Quadro K2000m
