Hello, I am really interested in the M4700 for college (Media Arts & Design), however that being said I am interested in possibly gaming and was wondering if:

1: It is possible to remove the GPU?
2: Can it be replaced with another GPU, possibly consumer grade?

The reason I'm questioning this is because of MSI's GT60 laptop; it is able to house a GTX 680m GPU and there's options for the Quadro K1000m and K2000m GPUs. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The M4700 uses MXM type A GPUs, so you're pretty much limited to the M4000, K1000m and K2000m from Dell (and probably the next gen of type A quadros and firepros), you aren't going to be able to fit a GTX680m in there like you can in a M6700 (MXM type B).

So there are no other MXM type a GPUs out there that can work?

No one has tried, but MXM type is rather rare to begin with and is limited to GPUs with lower TDP, so maybe you could find a MXM type A 650m, but that isn't really a step up from a K2000m in terms of performance.
