No haha. I mean reduce the flex in the backlit keyboard or an island style keyboard.

I originally posted Latitude but realized they don't have Optimus (I think?) so it might be better to check the drivers from the new Alienware first. (I edited my post above but you beat me with your reply. :p) Not sure if it makes a big difference, but it seems like it might be better to grab the driver from another machine that does have Optimus.

It's an edit fest :D I ended up trying the Alienware driver, no luck however. Edited my original post.

May I ask what drivers and firmware you are using? Mine work, but it is inconsistent, so much so I never use it.

CV_WBF_Setup_Y2GT8_64bit_ZPE.exe from the Dell website. Released 6/27. Uninstall all the dell access stuff, update the firmware using the included utility, restart, then install the drivers.

You'll need to run the Control Vault WBF program (it will be in your start menu after the install above) and enable the WBF. Then go into Biometric Devices in windows and enroll your fingerprints, ect..

EDIT: This assumes you are running win7 64 bit

Idiots. Anybody ever consider that a mobile workstation may sometimes not be used as an entertainment toy? That there still are a few of us out there who actually need to get work done on a computer? Hello?

Thanks dafunk60. Downloaded it and will try it out (yes on W7 64b).

I noticed under Fixes & Enhancements it has:
Expand the Dell ControlVault WBF support for more Dell Latitude systems (E6230, E6330, E6430, E6430ATG, E6530) and Dell Precision systems (M4700, M6700).

Won't be long until we have a mammoth thread on the M6700!! ;-)

Oh well, 7870. 7970 would have been so much better. If this is right then we have the usual business notebook entry vga nerf. If any notebook comes out in this class with a great vga, then it is nerfed in the next generation. See thinkpad t500 to t510, hp 8540p to 8560p and 8740w to 8760w... It must be smart business some way if all the big players do it.

No more buying a 17,3 precision instead an alienware to get a more "civil" looking machine.
