    http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/12/nvidia-g92-and-g94-gpus-failing-too/

It mentions the 9600 GT desktop/laptop versions failing here.

    Earlier: http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/31/figuring-out-which-nvidia-gpus-are-defective-its-a-lot/
    Quadros were affected.

Let's pray they have fixed the issues and Quadro FX770M won't be affected. At least us business laptop owners get 3 years warranty so any failure will be pretty apparent during this time. Nothing to worry about (for 3 years)!
I predict that when they stuff the FX 1700M in the M4400 and people purchase that, we will know for sure! :)

The mobile 9600 and 9700 cards are based on a G96 core which has not been brought up being defective - yet. The Quadro FX 770M is also allegedly based on the same core, so it *might* be safe. The reason why older Quadro cards will also be affected is that Nvidia uses the same cores on its GeForce and Quadro lines. The differences come in certifications, optimizations, drivers, etc.

Sigh, this is pretty much the only thing holding me back from buying a M4400... Guess all we can do is wait and see.

Don't believe everything you read. I mean it's ok to be skeptical about every nVidia product but a lot of unfounded rumours keep getting mentioned...
