    Hi all,

I have spent the past 10 minutes trying to search this forum for the answer and came up empty-handed. Simple question: does the M4400 support 3 Gbits/second or is it limited to 1.5 Gbits/second? I know the entire ThinkPad line (T400/T500/W500/W700) models are limited to 1.5 Gbits/second, which limits the usefulness of a higher-end Solid State Disk like the Intel X25-M. Thanks for the info!

AFAIK, only the Thinkpad T60 series is limited to less than the full SATA 1.5Gb/s speed. The Tx00 and Wx00 series should run at the full SATA 3.0Gb/s spec. The M4400 and the entire current range of Latitudes and Precisions will also run at the full SATA 3.0Gb/s spec.

Thanks! Now I have to decide whether I want to upgrade or wait until Q1 2010 for a Nehalem-based Dell mobile workstation.

Honestly the difference isnt an issue between the two. The actual speeds of the hard drives will never reach that of 1.5 let alone 3.0. THe only difference is the potential power savings, which is very minute too.
