    Yes, definitely. And is easier to use. If you try it, remember to verify also the current limits (that are in the 'FIVR' section with the voltage regulation) and the 'TPL' section for the TDP limits.

    I want to upgrade the Ram in the 7740 itself to 64GB, its cheaper.
    Which one should I take or which would be the best for this powerful workstation?

    Hi,

    yesterday i experienced something odd on my 7740:
    Set the Temperaturlevel in Power Manager to Ultimate Power and played a game for an hour. After that hour the battery was drained to half even with the power adapter connected.

    Is this how it should be?
    That would limit usability in demanding business cases to your battery power, even when connected to AC.

    Has someone else experienced the same behaviour?

    What was the battery setting in Dell Power Manager? If it was 'Primarily AC use' or 'Custom' or you have set custom charging/discharging limits, then this behaviour is expected.

    It's one of these extended life service batteries, so there is as far as i can see, nothing i can set for the battery. it's power manager v3.4.0 with points:
    battery information / extended charging (not available) / peak shift (not available) / Temperatur management -> set to ultra performance / battery extender (not available in ac mode) / warnings.

    do i miss something?

    Which GPU do you have? Is it RTX 4000 or 5000?
    Does your game load the GPU and CPU both pretty well?

    Test with Pascal cards in the M6700/M6800 revealed that high load on the GPU (operating at over 100W) would throttle the CPU due to insufficient power. I'm wondering if the "ultimate power" plan allows the system to bypass this by drawing additional power from the battery.

    It's an i9-9980HK + RTX4000, and that game stresses CPU & GPU very well.

    I don't see a possibility to change that detail in the power plan, so "ultimate power" seems only possible with additional battery power.
    It's a 240W power supply, so that seems to be too small, and the wrong end to save money in production.

    Use HWINFO to check the power draw on the CPU and GPU, plus the total system power. You can also check the battery charge/discharge rate.

    Check while running the game.
