    Hello Forum Members,

I am currently in the process of searching for a suitable workstation notebook that is acceptable for extensive office work and regular project work in various Adobe programs. I often spend upwards of eight hours a day work in programs such as Word, Excel, and other program involving EXTENSIVE typing. As a result a high quality keyboard is of great importance to me...such as the great feel of my current Vaio Z's (2010 model) keyboard. Now, the reason for the power of the workstation notebook. Between one to three days a week I am performing video editing for my clients and now my need to perform this on-site has just become a predominate. I for the most part use on a mobile basis Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Media Encoder, Adobe Sound Booth, and Photoshop.

As a result of the above and online research I have come to the conclusion that the Dell Precision 6700 offers the best style, practicality, and cost to performance ratio of the notebooks I have studied.

I have three questions I would greatly appreciated being answered.

    1. Would you recommend RAID 0 or do you believe RAID 1 would suffice with Premiere and the editing of 1080p footage? (My desktop with a single RAID 0 array handles 1080p footage without issue) I would prefer RAID 1 for the redundancy but I will be performing daily backups either way.

    2. Does any know how the keyboard is on the Dell Precision notebook? How is the typing feel on the keyboard? Do you have any pro/con for the Precision keyboard?

    3. Do you have any other recommendations for the ordering options, or even a different brand, that would suit my needs in a superior manner?

I thank you for all assistance that can be provided!

Please take a look at my current order options and provide your opinions:

Well I'd actually recommend an SSD, but if cost is a factor, a RAID 0 would be an easy lower cost substitute.

Actually, it "feels" quite cheap, but is stable and types well enough.
Pro: no flex and good spacing. Con: the tracking ball gets in the way and can take some getting used to. I wish there was a way to recess it or turn it off.
According to my extensive research, you've already chosen the best there is.

Looks like a well configured system for a great price, save the IPS which sadly, Dell no longer offers. However, I always budget for an additional battery. That's something I think is necessary on any mobile device. Get it now.
