My precision just started to reboot whenever I close the lid, when I open it again :(

    Eventid shows id 37.

I've tried to solve this on my parents Asus, but I've never seen it on my Precision. I can only come up with a possible Windows update as the cause. I haven't updated any drivers lately.

    Anyone else having this behaviour?

Did you get anywhere with this? I found that HyperV would not let the 5510 sleep or shutdown after removing it from the dock. I suspect that the removal of the NIC from the system confuses HyperV. Is there a solution for this? Should I add the HyperV feature only on the Wireless NIC?

Wouldn't the faster RAM have a lower CAS latency as well?

I had similar on my 7710, but I can't say if it is the same issue you are having on the 5510. If I unplugged my AC power before entering sleep, then resuming from sleep later with AC connected it would reboot. If I had the AC plugged in, then entered sleep, and later try resuming from sleep with AC unplugged, it would reboot. That behavior wasn't absolutely consistent, but frequent. It was very strange trying to figure out the combo of events. My workaround solution was to disable some battery options in BIOS such as Peak Shift and Advanced Battery Charge Configuration. I've not had issues waking from sleep since. I'm on an older version of BIOS on my 7710 so maybe an update of the BIOS would fix it without disabling those features.

thanks for the input. I kinda makes sense in my case - I think. I have it plugged into a TB3 dock, and I've noticed it tasked a while before it completely enters sleep. So, if I unplug it from the dock before it sleeps, it might be the "cause".
I use the Dell Command Power Manager and have disabled Peak Shift and Advanced Charge. Only change settings in the Thermal Management "Optimized, Cool, Quiet and Ultra Performance".

Edit: The fan kept running again - 3rd Day in a rove... Seems it's having issues going into sleep

Anyone with a Samsung 950 Pro 512GB up for a real life speed test vs my PM951?
I'm about to invest in a 1TB drive but am not sure whether to go with a standard 1/4 of the price, less power consuming m.2 or with the OCZ RD400 or upcoming 1tb 950 Pro.
    I'm on a 5510, Xeon, 32 gigs, Windows 10.

I was thinking about creating some test scenarios people could download and do time trials with:
    - generate video in adobe premiere
    - open/save 1-4 gb photoshop files
    - zip/unzip 10 gigs of data

Hi Guys, newbie here. Am not an owner yet, but am about to pull the trigger on a 5510.

Had a few questions before that though:
    1. Can anyone confirm whether eGPUs are supported? Have looked everywhere but can't find any definitive answer.
    2. Does it have international warranty? Stupid question I guess. But need to confirm nonetheless.

Sorry if these already have been asked a lot. Will peruse the older pages just in case.

My config: i7-6820hq, 16GB, 256GB PCIe, Ubuntu 14.04, bigger battery

Windows 10 looks exciting but still very unstable and I need stability on my work machine. Ubuntu fits my needs just fine.

I'd take this with a grain of salt, but according to my prior employer's Dell account rep, all warranties on the machines we were buying in the US were good globally. That may have been channel-specific (we were a "medium business") however.

If you want something a bit newer than the Dell 14.04, if you don't need support for the Nvidia chip (or can handle installing Bumblebee + the Nvidia closed source drivere yourself), several of my coworkers are really happy with Ubuntu 16.04 on their M5510.

Can anyone here offer speculation on why there are no Precision 5510 in the dell outlet?

Is dell off loading the refurb business to get out of offering multi year warranty on this machine?

Seems like the same could be going on with xps 15. ....

I hate to ask this here. But is the unit ( And the xps 15 ) just a lemon ? With two many issues to make outlet sales profitable?
