    *sigh*
If that's really an updated BIOS, it's annoying that they released it with the same version number as the previous one, not the first time that they've done that recently...

    [Edit]
It can't be new, it has a digital signature date of December 12.

    hi guys,

on my 5510 the diagnostic light is constantly blinking amber-just check that on the manual and says:fatal battery failure

As soon as i disconnect it from the power supply it shuts down.It was fine yesterday, today i rendered some heavy graphics yet i doubt that might be what caused it.

Anyone that experienced simular problem? Will run the diagnostic tool to check the battery now and will let you know.

    Thanx in advance

In the bios says it’s time to replace the battery. This is truly odd since i’ve been having it for an year and a half, barely using it on battery power.Such sudden death makes me think there is something not quite right with the battery.

Is it the 6 cell battery which is subject to a recall? If so, Dell have been proactive in putting a check in the BIOS update. Enter your service tag here to check if you are affected.

    Thank you,John.

Yes,mine seems to be from the bad batch.

A few months after buying it,it would restart itself.I called the dell support and the next day a technician came and replaced the motherboard.I am not sure if back them he didn’t replace the battery.

Will contact them anyway, they should have this noted,i guess.

I can't remember but it was one of the big courier companies who delivered the battery one day and then collected the old one after I booked the collection. However, that's in UK and arrangements in other parts of the world may be different.

I just got tracking information today. I never got any kind of confirmation or anything of the order until now. Placed it around the middle of last week, should have it Thursday. I did pull the battery on my 9550 today, just because I didn't want it to do any damage to the trackpad or frame. Shipping FedEx Ground in the USA.

I have a 5510 that I have had for just over 2 trouble free years. Recently I purchased a TB-16 dock, and in the process of getting the dock up and running there were some drivers to update along with the thunderbolt firmware. Everything went ok, except for the thunderbolt firmware update. It failed, and any subsequent attempts to update the thunderbolt firmware fail. In the Dell Command Manager, it shows my thunderbolt firmware version as 0. Everytime I dock the laptop I get an error message that says that the firmware needs to be updated and directs me to Dell to get the update. I can't tell for sure, but I believe that there is some docking functionality that is not working. The monitor type is not recognized and display settings are lost every time I dock.

Dell support is of no help at all. Any ideas?
