Anyone have the D420/D430 media dock? Because I got one off of eBay, and I'm concerned the latching mechanism is not working properly.

Do you find the latch a little...difficult...to move, because it feels like I'm going to break mine every time!

I've got one. And I also got it off eBay.

I'm not sure what you mean, though. Can you explain?

It feels like I'm going to break off the dock release tab every time I try to disconnect my D430!

It is nice to hear from someone else on the forum that actually has this notebook and the base! I didn't know if anyone had it...

Now I understand what you mean. Yes, it does work the way you've described. But I've docked & undocked it a thousand times -- maybe more -- and it's just fine. No worries. :)

It's a great little laptop, isn't it? I have the older D420, and I'm now ready for something a bit larger and a bit more powerful (for AVCHD video editing). I'm not sure if you recall the thread, but I've been trying to decide which size to go with, 13.x or 15-17. I'm about 90% sure I'll go with Sony's new FW... but I'd like to see Dell's XPS replacements first.

Greg, just saw your other PM...guess you do have lots of Qs...yeah the "hooks" make it harder to remove but not that bad...not a easy as my X300 but does take more work to get on on off...

That was exactly what I meant! So apparently I'll just have to be a little rough with it :D.

Yeah, I do...I didn't want to buy something only for it to be a problem later!

The 'hooks' that attach the laptop to the base are a bit of a pain, but I've gotten used to that. The latch was the most concerning thing!
