    Hi there!

I'm having some trouble with my m6400, but I'm not sure if its a Dell problem or my gfx card or Windows Vista itself.

Whenever I start my laptop the screen resolution gets reset to 1024x768, and I need to manually re-configure my screen.

Does anyone have an idea why this may be?

I got a Quadro FX 3600m with the new drivers (the ones that got released around march).

Shure you have a Qaudro FX3600M and not as usual for the M6400 a Quadro FX3700M?

Is this the factory install of the System or did you reinstall Vista yourself?
If you reinstall did you mentioned the right installation order of the drivers?

    regards
    Christopher

Oops yes, its the FX3700m, sorry for that.

All I did was install regular Windows Updates.. It's still the factory settings, havent reinstalled anything on it yet.

Sometimes Windows updates may cause problems. I recall that one time, an update caused my sound to go out. The solution, simply, is to reinstall the video card driver from the Dell website.

It that doesn't fix it, I would recommend reinstalling Windows. That doesn't sound like a hardware issue to me...

    Hmmm...
Well, I don't really know what to tell you. Although NBR doesn't allow cross posting, I think that this is perhaps an O/S problem and the answer is hidden somewhere in the settings. Try asking a generic question (about 1024x768 always coming on at startup) in the Microsoft forum.

If you just got the computer, you might want to reinstall the OS. Chances are that that could fix it.
