Nope..not using a cooler...just have the back of it raised.
Once the room is cool (it can get very hot especially with my desktop pumping out heat as well) the laptop runs flawlessly.

This is my first post here, been following a few of the m6400 black screen crash threads because I now have one and it's crashing - I have the FX 3700M black screen, reboot required, etc - only when I use it for COD4 and once before when I was using Sketchup

A couple of things I like cleared up - It doesnt happen at all when I run on battery power alone(NO AC connected) but that only lasts an hour max when gaming..so not much good really - Is this the norm for all those with the black screen crashes??. The thing is, I bought it as a refurb from a non deal seller so dont have the dell warranty as a back up, the power supply is not the dell PA-7E, its a 150W supplied by the seller after the original wrong PSU was sent with the M6400 ( a PA-10 90Watt ) this was a major problem as the QX9300 CPU was only running at 1.6GHz due to the lack of available power - the replacement 150W let it run properly though.

So, my question to all those suffering the crashes, are you using the standard 210W PSU issued with these or are you maybe using an alternative like me that may be starving the GPU of power - causing the crashes.

Sorry for taking so long to get to the point, but before I start a long drawn out battle with the supplier of my M6400 to cover this under their own 1Yr warranty, would it be worth my while getting the PA-7E from Dell (£56 delivered) and seeing if this solves the problem???

Thanks for any help you can give, Marty

I've not had any problem at all - but then I have a FX2700m in my M6400 and I rarely use the 90W PSU - although I do use it now and then.
I normally have the laptop docked through a 210W PSU, or hard wired into a 130W PSU.
