Dell M4700 87 Whz vs 97 Whz 9 cell battery

I am in the process of choosing between a 87 Whz and a 97 Whz 9 cell battery for my M4700.

87 Whz comes with 3 year warranty, but slightly less capacity.
97 Whz comes without warranty, but has higher capacity.

The price for both are the same for the M4700 I'm trying to buy on Ebay.

My question is: Which one would you go for? Is the 10 Whz difference that huge?

I would go for the 87 Wh because in theory it has better quality cells so you'll get longer lifespan . Mine is the standard cell quality 65Wh and wears off pretty fast. I can't get more than 1,5 hours of autonomy while surfing the web in battery mode . I guess that I'll grab one of the "green ones" and keep the crappy 65Wh while the laptop is plugged. People often recommend removing the battery while laptop is plugged in, but M4700 loses stability without the battery in place, so it's not an option for me.

 

Could someone give me a difference in battery life between the 87 Whz and 97 Whz?

 

I've also heard that regular 67 whr and 97 whr usually goes bad after the 1 year warranty period.

Dell is asking me exactly the same price for both 97 whr and 87 whr. Is it worth sacrificing the 10 whr for 3 years warranty ?

Also the 87 whr battery does not have express charge. Does it supposed to matter ?

 

Not to me. A typical expected life is 3 years. And although everyone would like a long lasting battery, when dealing with a machine of this caliber, efficiency should come long before longevity.

No doubt one of the reason it lasts longer.

I also realize that for M4800, the 87 Whz battery has been terminated.

 

Everybody wants their battery to last as long as possible. But I realized that these are workstation, so that was deciding factor for me.

 

After a little over a year, I have seen an increase of ~ 5% in battery wear. The way I see it, if my battery dies, I'll just buy a new one.

 

i think you should be able to disable fast charge, at least i am and i did it. on my m6600 97wh bat lost 2%. during period of 8 months. depleted once every 2 days.
