I just bought a "Ordered New" Dell M4700 and I noticed that the left palmrest has a bit of give, so that when I first put my left hand down to type, it makes a tiny creaking sound as the palmrest goes down a bit.

Keep in mind, this is the second M4700 that I have seen this happens. My first "certified refurbished" Dell M4700 also had this issue as well. I have returned the first M4700 for other reasons.

What I want to know is whether there are other users with similar issues as well.

Either way, it is not a deal breaker, but just a bit annoying.

M6700 user here, I know it's a different machine but it should be similar (just slightly larger). Anyway, I can't reproduce your issue here, mine is solid as it gets.

Had similar issue with current M6700 and previous M4600 (one refurb on brand new). Does it comes from this EC card slot area? If so, please take bottom cover and try to unscrew and screw that part of laptop again (there are 3-4 screws holding this area together IIRC).
I know it sounds silly but it sure helped me. Every time I lifted my hand up I heard this strange plastic sound. I had to re-paste my CPU and GPU, so each screw from that area has been taken care of and it's magically gone.

I know it pissed me A LOT.

Yes! It is coming from the EC card slot area.

    Thanks for your input

And I do not have to take the CPU or GPU out for this right?

But that would mean that I have to take the DVD slot out? I am not quite sure how to get to the said screws.

Yup DVD drive out and then you will see a couple of screws. Try that (check manual if you don't know how to do it)

No CPU/GPU taking out of course.

I tried taking out the screws and putting them back in, but that does not seem to solve the issue.

I have added a video to show the situation. I have not contacted Dell warranty yet, but as soon as my warranty gets transferred from the Ebay seller, I will contact Dell about this.

This M4700 is a "ordered new" laptop and has 3 year Next Business day Warranty until Sep 4th 2016.

This is actually annoying me quite a bit.
