    Hi

I have a problem with Dell latitude LS400 LCD. Initially the cable was damaged internally due to crack at the hinge joint as a result of loose hinge bolts and the screen turned white. I have replace with another cable which seems to be okay (claimed by the seller) and I can see menu and desktop but the colors are blur but bright as before, I mean the there is no color rendering and the black areas appear to be purple. There are some fluctuating lines on the screen as well. In short the color smoothness is gone while text font is still crisp clear. When an external CRT monitor is connected the images are crystal clear. Is that still the cable or the inverter or something else?

I would try re-seating the cable.

LS400? Do you mean a Lexus LS400, Dell Latitude LS, or a Dell Latitude L400? :D

Anyhow, to remove the LCD and check the cable, you need to remove the six rubber bumpers. There are screws under them, which will need to be removed. After they are removed, you can remove the LCD bezel. Be careful to not let the latch fly off. After the bezel is removed, there will be screws on the sides of the screen. I don't quite remember how they are, but they will need to be unscrewed and then the LCD can be lifted off the back cover.

Robin24k - Thanks for the procedure but I already did that and replaced the other cable which I bought at pchub and suppose it is not faculty.

SpeedyMods - What do you mean by re-seating the cable? I tried to plug the cable quite many times but the same problem persists.

What I suspect is the faulty inverter. By the way inverter steps-up DC to how much voltage and what kind of HV output signal is fed to LCD?
