    Hey guys,
got a second hand Latitude XT a while ago with the intention of repairing it's touchscreen, seems fairly hard!
Anybody know common problems with this model? I know the drivers are pretty awful but I think this may be hardware related, as I have literally tried everything! (rollback, reinstall, linux, firmware, bios.......)

Also, I bought a OCZ Nocti drive on ebay a while ago for it, without knowing the great uncertainty that is finding one that works in your laptop... Can it work at all in the latitude XT?

Lastly, does anybody know if the CPU is in a socket or not?

I'm a student who can't afford the latest models, who studies electronic engineering (So no fear of disassembling!) and would like to make this £225 ebay purchase a little more shiny! :)

I recall reading some threads a while ago about users bricking their XT touchscreens with a bad firmware flash. Seeing as you've tried everything else, the touchscreen is probably bricked, and you will have to physically replace it.

You cannot use an OCZ Nocti in this unit; there is no support for mSATA drives. You have to use a 1.8" PATA ZIF drive.

The CPU is soldered to the motherboard.

Honestly, if this was a parts unit, I think you probably overpaid. I don't know how it is in the UK, but you can easily get complete and working XTs in the US for around $225.

Just had a quick browse. I did get ripped off... Damn.
Bought it a month ago, in a phase of unplanned (and not entirely sober) ebay purchases...

Soldered eh? Perhaps it's time to move on from soldering surface mount op-amps.... to bricking laptops!! :p

Thats annoying though. Have to resell the Nocti I guess...

    fail fail fail.

Ah well, live and learn (to ask on forums first!! :p).

Cheers man, thanks for the quick reply.
