Dell Latitude not recognizing M.2 PCIe SSD

    You definitely need to have SecureBoot disabled to do anything which involves writing to the boot partition.

    You also need to upgrade your existing Windows 10 to Windows 10 so that your machine's eligibility gets recorded on Microsoft's server.

    To use the cloning route, a very few $$$s will get you a USB 3.0 2.5" HDD enclosure into which you can put the 500GB HDD.

    Put the HDD in a USB 3.0 enclosure. You can even install Win10 on a USB stick if you have one big enough.

    Good to hear you got it fixed.

    I had mentally discounted the possibility of Windows 10 not including the right driver because I had (mistakenly) assumed that an online download would kept up to date. Needing to use F6 to manually load a storage driver was often a requirement for older versions of Windows where the installation discs could be somewhat older than the computers.
