I just installed a new Samsung 830 Series SSD in my E6400 and have a problem. Initially, everything worked great. My two main goals in upgrading were the increase in boot and response times and to get rid of the constant noise from the Seagate 7200rpm drive that has annoyed me for almost four years!

After I reinstalled all my programs and spend a few hours customizing all my settings and preferences, I put the system to SLEEP for the night. The next morning, I hit the power button to wake it up and saw my desktop for a brief moment….then the display turned off and I couldn’t get it to turn back on???

After trying everything I could think of- mostly tapping the mouse pad and pressing various keys, which normally will ‘wake’ it up. When I pressed multiple keys at the same time, I heard the error ‘sound’ and realized that my system wasn’t asleep, only the display was off or sleeping!

I tried a reboot, everything was normal thru the Windows logo, and then the display went dark just as the Windows Logon chime sounded??? So it apparently was logged into Windows and at my desktop, I just couldn’t see it!

Any idea what the problem could be? I reinstalled my old hard drive and everything works just as it did before installing the SSD (no issues with the display turning off or going dark). But I really would like to use my new SSD for something other than a $150 coaster…..

    HELP!!!

I spent several hours working on it yesterday and it is working perfectly now! I was able to boot from the Windows 7 installation disc, then start System Restore. That fixed the issue. :D
