    hello
recently i purchased a dell latitude e6220. i want to downgrade from windows 7 to windows xp pro (32bit), but can't find built in webcam drivers.
seems that windows 7 native drivers suit for the webcam, but dell drivers page doesn't provide them for windows xp.
searching the net for the hardware id (USB\VID_1BCF&PID_2804&REV1310&MI_00) results nothing.
so can someone point where can i download appropriate drivers?

Does Windows XP have a generic driver for it? If not, then you're out of luck.

As a side note, there's no reason to be running a 10+ year old OS on modern hardware...if you need it for compatibility purposes, you can run XP in a VM using a variety of methods, including the built-in XP Mode feature, Microsoft Virtual PC, or VMware Workstation. It'll save you a lot of headache with security issues and hardware compatibility.

unfortunately windows xp sp3+ shows yellow exclamation mark for that piece of hardware ...

i assume, that dell does not use (so much) different webcam solely for e6220. so maybe some more informed person can share his knowledge about this and that? :)

i'm aware of all other options, but right now windows xp sp3+ 32bit is my choice

i,m sorry, answering for a while, but driver problem was caused by some hardware malfunction or failure: after reseller "serviced" a product (replaced whole lid (camera, antennas and lcd panel)), the problem is gone ;) default windows xp camera drivers (shown in Device Manager under "Imaging devices" as "USB Vide Device") fits for the camera very well

accoring to hardware id's from *.inf file dell latitude E4310/E6410/E6510 webcam drivers won't work. despite i think somewhere there should be better (newer) drivers.

so, in general, i think the problem is solved ;)

That's good to hear, glad you got it fixed. Hardware sometimes fails in strange ways...
