Dell Latitude E5440 Windows 8 issue

I bought my latitude in late jan 2014 with w7 preinstalled, under the assumption, given what I saw on the product page, that I would have a free upgrade to windows 8. There's no key in the BIOS and there was no dvd and no license key on an envelope that I know of. Did anybody else buy a Latitude around this time with the same setup, and were you able to upgrade to windows 8? Thanks.
