guillakunst, quite a number of benchies are in this thread, by the way, in case you are interested. The general agreement is that both MLC and SLC drives are about the same in terms of performance. Here's a post that may interest you.

I can't use the E4200 at this time, but I'll run it when I next get a chance. My son is using it now because his XPS M1330 just broke :(.

But there are some Crystal Mark results I posted earlier in Win7x64:

I have gone back to Vista x64 because of the brightness control issue in Win7.

You should try RC1 Build 7100 and see if the behavior has persisted. I am going to do it shortly as soon as I am done killing it on my desktop.

If you are talking about the backlight control problem, Build 7100 has it also.

    Question

If it doesn't say 'WWAN ready' you Can Never put in a, lets say, a Verizon chip?

There's no space or connection for it?

Probably not. The chassis looks different. The non-WAN chassis 'looks' better with no 'wings' which contain the antennas. If you want to add either VZW or AT&T later, you will have to use an ExpressCard to do so, which is fine since that slot remains empty most of the time, anyway.

It just won't be built in. That is all.

Yes I have tried that already. A couple of other owners have also experienced the same problem recently.

    Good news in some way.

How much would you say the fan has changed? How often and how fast did it spin previously and how much now?
Would you say it is worth the work?

I am getting tired of the fan running all the time and is looking for ways to reduce it.

Yup, Hibernation makes a complete dump of your RAM + Video memory to disk.

Resuming from hibernation requires reading all that data from disk back into RAM, meaning that the more RAM you have, the longer it will take to resume.

The SSDs that come with the E4200 (Mobility and Ultra Performance) are capable of reading at a sustained rate of around 80MB/s. 3GB & 80MB/s will take around 40 seconds, plus the time it takes for the machine to post.

Simply put, use suspend or shutdown and restart.
