    Hello all,

I am having a strange problem with my laptops video card. I have had the laptop for about 2 1/2 years and have never experienced a problem with the video card. About 4 to 6 months ago I had to do a clean format on the laptop due to a virus infection. When I reformated I loaded all OEM drivers back on the laptop supplied from dell. Everything has worked fine up until about a week ago when I started getting blus screens with NV4_DISP errors with statements indicating infinite loop. I have loaded the newest drivers from Nvidia's site and it worked fine for a day or two and now I am getting sporadic errors, which include blue screens and very poor resolution and color. I have tried uninstalling the nvidia drivers and using just windows plug and play drivers and get the same results.

Initially I think this is a driver problem but being that the laptop was running fine with the OEM drivers for such a long time it leads me to beleive that there may be a more serious problem with the hardware.

Any feedback you guys can give me would be appreciated.

    Thank you,
    John

Well, first of all, just a technicality, but there's no way you could have had a D630 for two and a half years given that the thing came out in mid-2007 :p

At any rate, if your problems are duplicated on an external monitor, you most likely have a GPU problem. Even if it's not a GPU issue, you should still call Dell and make them fix it for you, as you should still be under warranty.
