Hello, I Am New To The Dell Forum. I Have A Dell Latitude Csx, Running Xp, And It Is Sooo Slow!, No Viruses Or Anything, Running Adaware, Avira, And Windows Defender. Are There Any Setting I Can Change, Things To Delete, Changes In Msconfig Or Anything I Can Do To Speed This Thing Up? I Don't Know A Whole Lot As Far As "tweaking" My Laptop, Any Help On This Would Be Greatly Appreciated!

    Thanks,
    -ddaymen

Well, the CSX is just kind of an old machine; it might just not be able to run XP very well, especially if you're running a full a AV suite. A clean install might help; I have a C600 of the same generation running XP pretty well, but it's almost a perfectly empty installation.

A clean install might help, but you might also want to consider upgrading the memory and/or HDD. What're the current specs?

Thanks For The Response, I'm Not Sure Of The Specs., But I Just Got An Xp That Is Bare Bones, Only 128 Mb. No I Need To Figure Out How To Install It, As The Csx Has No Cd Rom Or Floppy Drive!

    Any Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Ddaymen

That explains a lot. Any chance of increasing that. You would need a really slimmed down version of XP to run comfortably in that space. You can try fiddling with the performance settings under My Computer > Properties . Advanced. Also put the visual settings to Best Performance + smooth screen fonts.

Does it have a USB port or does it have a special port for connecting either of these devices? Something that old might not support booting from USB. There's also a chance that you can do a network install.

iT HAS A USB PORT, AND AN EXTERNAL CD ROM CAN BE HOOKED UP. THE SLIMMED DOWN VERSION OF XP I HAVE ONLY USES 120 MB OF SPACE.
