    Hi Experts,

    Plz help me with this.

My laptop configuration details are as follows:

Dell Latitude CPx H500GT, Pentium III, 500 Mhz, 256 MB Ram, 12 GB HDD, DVD ROM.

Bios: CPi R500GT Bios version: A02

Whenever I boot my laptop I get the following error message:

Invalid configuration information - please run setup

    System Hardware failures: #0010
Strike the F1 key to shutdown

Processor update failure. Reload current BIOS
Strike F1 to continue, F2 to run the setup
Sometimes when I press the F1 key it proceeds and loads my Operating system (WinXP)

I tried to update my bios, I went to the dell support site and downloaded the bios update driver for CPx H Latitude

I ran the update from inside windows XP (A14-CPTX.exe), but it says that it is an update for CPv laptop. I am confused.

    Please help, thanks in advance.

I looked up the error code 0010 on Dell's site and all it told me that you should be seeing this error code when updating the BIOS on a C610... so I suppose the same should hold here. In other words, that error is not something to worry about (don't know why your BIOS update doesn't work though - Dell's links just might be wrong).

As for the second error, if you're getting it consistently it probably means your CMOS battery is dead. So basically the BIOS resets itself every time you power it down (like the time goes back to 00:00:00), and it doesn't like those kind of settings.

Moral of the story - replace your CMOS battery.
