    hi guys,

I have a old dell latitude c600 just lying around and iv taken it part a few times and I know the case is still good on it so I wanted to start replacing parts and/or the whole machine minus the case, and build a new machine.

here are the specs for the machine
    https://www.pcworld.com/product/359...l_pentium_iii_128mb_30gb_141_tft.html?p=specs

Now my question is what is the newest motherboard that I can put in this case because i want to run a faster processor, a bigger HDD or SSD (if I have the money), and some more RAM such as 2GBs.

If theres isnt is there anyway i can upgrade those other parts?

    Thanks in advance :)

You may be able to use a C610 or C640 mobo in the C600 case. I'm not 100% sure it'll work, but those cases are largely the same. Personally, though, I don't really think it's worth the effort to rebuild these units unless you're basically getting all the parts for free.

Yeah for sure you would have to be getting the parts for free otherwise not worth it.

The C610 MOBO will allow you up to a gig of RAM, not the 2G you want. A gig of that RAM (pc133) is gonna run you around fifteen bucks (plus or minus) on eBay, if you shop. You can run XP OK with that gig, and of course Linux. But you cannot run anything newer than XP well with only a gig.

Not to mention that Pentium III and 4 are dinosaurs nowadays, about the same speed as Atom CPUs (at least according to Passmark).
