dell laptop 16 months old

    Ok i just bought a dell latitude from a shop and was wondering how long i can leave the laptop on for as i do not want this laptop just dieing on me

    i have a big fan on it at the moment as the laptop is warmish/hot

    can anyone give me any pointers as to how long i can like play a game on it for then leave it turnt off for acouple of hours then come back on

    A laptop of acceptable design should run for as long as you want it to, provided you maintain it properly (ie, clean it out for dust every month or so) and ensure that the temperatures remain within safe levels.

    i have bought a cooling system for it. it goes under the laptop and has 3 fans so im hopeing that will keep the temp down and how do i know what the temperatures are supose to be as i dont know much about laptops ive only had desktops

    What are the specifications for your laptop (Screen size, CPU, GPU)?

    Processor: Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 - M CPU 1.80GHz
    (GPU i think)Mobility Radeon 7500 AGP (LW)
    i think its a 15" screen or a 16" not to sure have nothing to mesaure it with

    Wow, that is some old hardware - I am not sure about normal operating temps for those parts.

    OK, the Radeon 7500 is an IGP, so temps shouldn't be a problem. It probably doesn't even have a thermal diode.

    As for the P4, 66C sounds normal, even if it isn't a Prescott. If you don't run any games of media intensive applications, temps probably shouldn't be a problem for you.

    so it will be ok for me to play games for like 10 hours?

    or should i have breaks inbetween

    and allso would a cooling system help the laptop not get so hot?
