I have an almost two-year-old D830 with a keyboard problem. All the keys work as they should except the "i" key. In order for the i key to respond I almost have to punch it with my finger. The other keys work fine. Is there a quick fix or even a not-so-quick fix to this problem?

It's generally unusual for a single key to start failing like that... I'd venture that there's something stuck under the key preventing it from pushing down all the way. It's probably not a good idea to pry off the key if you don't know what you're doing, but you can try using a toothbrush or something and scraping away beneath the key. Rubbing alcohol also can work wonders.

It is actually a Latitude D830, so I moved the thread to the correct subforum.

If you cannot get it yourself, it might be a physical problem. Try contacting Dell's support and get a new keyboard. If you have to buy one yourself to fix it, they are REALLY cheap and easy to swap out.

Greg, thanks for moving thread. I must have been of my old machine.

    And thanks for both answers.
