I guess this was the first rep's mistake? dell doesn't do any exchange to a new unit if you brought from refurbished, they only do is help you exchange a unit from outlet which close to your configuation.

That's why they play around you.

BTW: last time I called dell to return my rerererererere furbished e4300, took me 3 hours to reach the right rep, then she offers me $75 credit? I don't remember clearly.but I refuse, because that e4300 is not acceptable for me

so if you don't want to wait much longer, call to return, then the rep will offer you some credit, take it instead

Okay, so I just got off the phone with a Dell Tech Rep again. This time, I got a straight answer without any of the bull.

So essentially I am receiving the exchange unit on monday. In addition, the 3rd tech I talked to who said I would be receiving a new unit lied, since official policy is when you buy a refurb you will always get a refurb back in an exchange. Let's just hope this one is a lot better than the one I have now.

It wouldn't make sense otherwise. Why would a business exchange refurb for new? Unless they run out of refurb or something.

Anyway, I got my exchange unit today. Everything is much better built, I'm actually thinking this might be a brand new unit since everything is just so new. Even the battery has 0 wear and tear. I'm pretty happy so far now.

Consider yourself very lucky. I am seriously surprised you pushed Dell to give you a new unit. Well enjoy your new system! :D

Good. Use the new one.. if anything was better on the old part, swap the parts.
When I got my replacement of my system, I found that my original one had a quiet Panasonic drive (did not make any noise when the system turn on/come back form sleep) and read disk faster than the new one, which had a Toshba one. I swap them, and ask them via chat, they said it was fine.

Hey, the dell instructions I received say to call up Fedex and get them to come and pick up the package...but can't I just drop it off at the nearest Fedex authorized dealer?

Yup. 100% fine. Dell tell you this, because they don't you to be annoyed that you need to go a FedEx place. As long as Dell have your old machine, you should be good.
