The Dell E6400 is out a quite long time. This notebook use only DDR2 Ram. Anyone knows something about a successor?

Also the video part on the E6400 is not extremly up-to-date.

    Thank you,

DDR3 as main memory has no impact on performance.

considering the 6400 came out last fall, its probobly going to be another 4-6 months before a replacement shows up. I would guess it could have a mobile i7 in it, but the graphics card is refreshed, it will probobly be at the same class as the one you can get today.

It will be a long wait, and will likely be one of the first business laptops with i7 or i5, whatever it is Intel put in Laptops. As a result, I imagine it will be super expensive. May well be a year before its affordable.

Well, not "quite a long time" by business standards, it's been less than a year, so it's normal. Dell hasn't announced anything, so I'd say No. I doubt it will have i7 processors any time soon, i'd say i7 will be for Precisions first, and not Latitudes (at least not until the summer next year).
So, if your question is should you wait or buy now, i'd say it's safe to buy now :)

E6410 will likely come out around February 2010. Based on Intel's mobile Nehalem roadmap. We will likely see E4310 and E4210 around that time too.

Also, lenovo's thinkpads are being refreshed jan-feb 2010 based on some leaked roadmaps.

Being a business laptop, Dell generally won't introduce new Latitude/Precision lines for a couple years as businesses don't like to spend money on new systems very often.

At most they'll just make minor changes to the current systems. ie. processor bumps/chipset updates.
