    Hello.

I recently just purchased and received a fancy Dell e6400 from one of the many dell deals. My eyes are light sensitive from looking at many computer screens over the years and due to this I avoid LCD screens and much prefer flat CRT monitors. My goal is to use the e6400 as my workstation computer while using the VGA out to power my 19in Sony CRT. Only problem is when i connect the CRT to the video out on the e6400 the only refresh rate option is 60hr which is painful on the eyes... Anybody have any idea how to increase the refresh rate to 85+ ?

Hope somebody has the answer or i will be forced to return the machine. I searched for days on the internet and did not come up with anything.

    thank you.

*edit * I have the X4500HD GPU and running XP pro

I haven't got a CRT display to test, but if you right click on the Intel display tray icon and select graphics properties, click on the display Settings tab, you should be able to change the refresh rate.

Or, that doesn't work, right click on the Desktop and select properties then click on the Settings tab then Advanced, then Monitor and deselect the Hide modes that this monitor cannot display. You can then manually select the refresh rate.

Is that using only the external display? If not, make it the primary display and turn off the internal panel.

uggg...i tried both of these already. Set the external monitor as the main display and install the Dell P991 drivers. still cannot increase the refresh rate from 60hz. Has anybody successfully ran a CRT at a high refresh rate?
