    Hi everyone,

So I just got my e6400 from the outlet, and it looks Brand New in perfect condition.

However, I was just checking the display to see which one I got, and under the hardware ID it says "CMO1436". My questions are, who manufactures this display, and is it any good compared to the LG?

I had ordered an e6400 about a month ago which I had to return for another reason, but it had the LG panel in it and it seemed much brighter... although the colors seem more accurate on this... but I dont have them side by side to compare.

Anyone have any thoughts on which is better... I love this computer, but wondering if it's worth it to have someone come out to do a display swap under warranty.

Any and all advice or help is truly appreciated!

The LG display is very bright. I normally run mine at half brightness. The only time I've had the brightness near to full (when the colours start to wash out) is outside in the sunshine.

The CMO displays are normally good. I don't think Dell will guarantee to provide you with a particular brand of display if you ask for a swap, so you may make a step backwards. I would tend to keep the CMO unless the extra brightness is needed.

Hey John... thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, I don't think the CMO is a bad display per say so far. I just remembered the LG being much brighter... and maybe a little crisper... and the whites seemed whiter too.

    Does that makes sense?

Anyone else have any thoughts to share between the 2?

So I called Dell this morning, and after an hour and a half, they finally found the LG 14.1" WXGA+ LED screen part number and are going to come out and replace my CMO with it (which I'm not as happy with as I was my original LG).

Anyone else have the CMO that disagrees with doing this... As I mentioned, I had the LG on another e6400 and the screen just seemed brighter, crisper, and the whites were whiter.

What was the reason you gave them to get the exchange? Seems like they don't have to do this.

I told them that the display quality was dim (not bright enough), and grainy, and a blueish tint compared to an exact e6400 Latitude with the LG display I had purchased a month ago.

UPDATE: Dell On-Site showed up today with LCD... & the same exact CMO model as I had  Apparently they said they were out of LG's and sent the next available screen. Not sure what I'm gonna do... I really liked the LG screen.

Any thoughts? Anyone else with a CMO screen care to chime in?

    All info is truly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

I have a CMO screen, one that I got from Dell support because my LG screen had a somewhat large annoying dead pixel in the center of the screen.

I feel like my new display is a bit dimmer, and it has some quality that I don't quite like. I've had a screwed up display several times after sleep (im not sure if thats windows or not, but that didn't seem to happen with the LG).

At least it doesn't have any dead pixels...
