Has anyone here try Windows 7 RC on a Dell D820, or even a D620? I can't count on Dell coming up with Windows 7 drivers. Otherwise I might say the heck with it and get a new E series that are on sale. I have been living with Vista, but Win7 sounds much more promising of a computer experience. If it will work, I am tempted to preorder over at Newegg.

Ran the 7000 build on a D620 for a couple weeks. For the most part there were no problems. Windows 7 recognized most of the hardware on its own; I think the only drivers I needed to install manually were card readers and audio software. Even then, the Windows Vista (or even XP; I don't remember) drivers worked right out of the box. A pretty good experience overall, and my specs were significantly worse than yours.

Good to hear. My Dell 350 Blue Tooth is probably my biggest obstacle. I am looking forward to Win7. Thanks for the info.

i ran win 7 on a d820 from beta (7000) to build (7067, pre RC) with no issues - but i didn't try to get bluetooth to work since i have no BT devices. i got the machine pre vista (XP home) but it handled vista very well and 7 even better.
