    Please see the pic attached.

I was wondering, is the black block portion a extended battery like a 9-cell? Does it ever feel weird when using it? I thought that extended batteries usually jut out of the back.

    Thanks!

EDIT: sorry, I read this in the review 'I need my machine to last as long as possible. I chose the nine-cell battery despite the fact it sticks out.' EEK!

The black block portion is the 9-cell extended battery. 6-cell does not stick out.

Never used one before, though it looks kinda weird to use. Heres a thread with some feedback from other D630 owners:

Either you like it or you hate it, but I wonder if it even fits in a normal laptop bag with it jutting out in front like that. Might be something to consider.

I have the 9-cell, It actually is not as "in the way" as one would think. When your typing, for example, your hands and wrists will almost never touch it. It sticks out that little! Actually, it's slightly larger than the width of my thumb, if I had a camera handy I would take a picture of it for you.

Thanks for the response and for digging that thread, Forte. It does look kind of weird, but I'd rather have that than the umbilical cord.

Good suggestion on the bag fitting... but since the laptop is 14.1", shouldn't it fit into most standard bags once it's all strapped in? No biggie.

BTW, is that you in your avatar?

@booboo: Thanks man. Don't worry about the pics. If it's about a 'thumb' in depth, that's cool enough and will give me better approximation than pics because I've seen a lot. Good to know that it don't touch your hands and wrists much. That was key. Thanks again.

I have it on mine as well. First off, it is way better in terms of battery life over my 6 cell. It fits well into my bag with plenty of headroom . I put the notebook in with the patery pointing up and it acts as a good grip point when I am getting the system back out.
